1 Mountjoy Terrace, Musselburgh

1 Mountjoy Terrace is an end terrace house built in 1888, situated in a dwarf walled garden. The building is two storeys high with a basement and features three windows across its front. It has a flat roof and is constructed from coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. There are cornice band courses at both the ground and first floor levels, as well as string courses at the cills of the windows. Above, there is a cornice with a balustraded parapet.

The house has three storeys, with a three-light canted bay window and single-pane sash windows in the basement, ground, and first floors. There is also an octagonal corner bay at the southwest. The balustrades are raised on a panelled drum, creating a tower motif. The return elevation features a parapetted quarter turn forestair with urns at the corners, leading to a corniced, timber glazed porch on the ground floor. Above the porch is an advanced triple window, and all windows throughout the building are single-pane sashes.
