Tenterfield House, Dunbar Road, Haddington

Tenterfield House on Dunbar Road in Haddington is an 18th century building featuring an original central block that is two stories high and has three windows. The ground floor windows are keyblocked venetians, and there is a central door that has been converted into a window. The building has a cornice and a blocking course. Extensive additions were made around 1860, including an asymmetrical south wing that has a three-story tower with a porch and a balustraded balcony above, as well as triple arched lights on the top stage. The south side features a canted bay, while the smaller north wing has a shallow rectangular bay with tripartite windows. The exterior is harled and ochre-washed, with the margins painted only on the original house. The original glazing has been retained in the 18th century nucleus.
