Description
Early 19th century, the ha-ha and aqueduct are located to the southeast of the Boathouse on the Gosford Estate. The ha-ha, which acts as a dam to the ornamental lake to the northwest, is topped by a semicircular screen that joins with a small aqueduct. The structures are built of random rubble with ashlar coping to the aqueduct and screen. An extensive network of drains and aqueducts, as shown on a plan, supplies water to the ornamental lake. This structure is part of a group of buildings within the Gosford Estate and is associated with Gosford House. References include J Ainslie's 1808 survey of the pleasure grounds and the 1854 Ordnance Survey map of Haddingtonshire.
