3 New Row, East Fortune Hospital

This is a row of six two-storey cottages, built around 1882. They were likely constructed at the same time as the nearby steading at East Fortune Hospital, which is separately listed. The cottages are located at 1-6 New Row, East Fortune. They have an irregular three-bay facade with a central passageway. The exterior is built from squared and coursed stugged ashlar with Jacobethan detailing, including hoodmoulds over the ground floor openings. Above the off-centre front doors are three-pane strip fanlights, with windows on either side at ground level. Smaller windows are set within gabled dormerheads which break the roofline on the first floor; a continuous eaves gutter runs along the top. The rear of the building is harled, and there are some minor additions.

The windows are sash and case with plate glass. The roof is covered in grey slates with straight skews and beak skewputts. Ashlar coped gable end and ridge stacks are present, with paired stacks above the central passageway. A low rubble retaining wall marks the boundary of the front garden.
