Description
Girgenti is a single-storey and attic farm built around 1828, with a tower added in 1843. The buildings form an L-shaped layout that creates a loose courtyard, featuring a notable polygonal tower on the southeast elevation. The structure is made of rubble, with some ashlar margins, and includes a segmental-arched entrance leading to the courtyard. The farmhouse has a later box dormer incorporated into the southeast range.
The tall polygonal tower is located within the southeast range to the left of the farmhouse. It is constructed of coursed, squared, and snecked sandstone rubble with ashlar margins and features a deep, moulded cornice. The tower displays two armorial shields, one of which has an inscription. It has inset clocks on all four faces, with narrow round-arched louvred openings above. The roof is a tapered polygonal design covered with grey slates and includes skylights.
Inside, there is a cantilevered spiral staircase with metal balusters and a handrail. The outbuildings include an L-plan byre to the northeast, which has part-glazed sliding timber doors and a slated roof with regularly spaced skylights. The southeast range of the outbuildings is made of rubble and has a piended roof at the north end. The property predominantly features replacement windows, grey slates, flat skews, and ridge stacks.
