Description
Annick Lodge is a house dated 1790, as indicated by the inscription in the pediment. It is a symmetrical design, comprising a central two-storey block flanked by single-storey pavilions connected by curved screen walls. The walls are harled and feature painted stone dressings with rusticated quoins. The facade has a 2-1-2 configuration of sash windows. A slight central projection is finished with a pediment bearing arabesque decoration within the tympanum. Three ornamental pediment urns adorn the building, and the Corinthian columned doorway is screened by walls topped with three ball finials. Two rusticated doorways are present, each with a raised keystone. The pavilions include recessed round-headed panels. A Victorian conservatory to the rear of the screen wall on the right has a raised circular glazed roof. The interior contains good 19th-century decoration, including an original staircase with turned balusters. Kitchen premises at the rear of the property may incorporate an earlier structure. The house has been documented in publications including Castles and Mansions of Ayrshire by A.H. Millar, and in the New Statistical Account of Scotland, Volume V, pages 524-5.
