Description

1651 datestone re-set in porch may date tower. Square tower

house converted probably late 18th century to 3-storey house,

with regular, 2-window east elevation; lower 2-storey house

added to south probably in mid 19th century (but could

incorporate earlier work). Now a farmhouse; low steading

range attached to west.

House: harled; tower has 12-pane sash and case windows with

margins, barge-boarded gabled porch on east wall with

datestone in gable head. 2 windows to north; 2 wall-head

stacks; piended slate roof. Addition has 2 1st floor windows

with gabled dormerheads.

Steading: largely built in earlier 19th century; 3

rectangular ranges built in U-plan around open court;

whitewashed rubble and ashlar dressings. South and west

ranges each single storey (additional door to house in

former), taller north range has square loft windows of barn

to courtyard and cartshed with square-headed openings.
