397 Brook Street, Dundee

This is an earlier 19th century cottage, built as a single storey with an attic, and featuring three bays. It is constructed from buff rubble sandstone, with the gables harled and painted margins and angles. The roof is covered with grey slate and has terracotta ridge tiles. The windows are plate-glass, set within frames of a modern, unsympathetic material.

The front elevation, which faces south, is set back behind a low wall with railings. A deeply recessed door is at the centre, with an astragled fanlight and a margined doorcase. There are windows to the left and right of the door. Two piended dormers are positioned above, each with a modern rooflight. The roof features coped skews and gable stacks.

The cottage is listed due to its proximity to earlier cottages at numbers 391 and 393 Brook Street. The statutory address is Broughty Ferry, 397 Brook Street.
