Description

The Baptist Church on St Vincent Street in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, was designed by John Murray Robertson and completed in 1881. This rectangular-plan church features an apsidal east end and is built in the Arts and Crafts style. The exterior is constructed of snecked masonry with buff long and short dressings and has a slate roof, with brick additions at the northeast and east.

On the west elevation, there is a base course and a Tudor-arched central entrance flanked by windows and a band course. Above, a five-light window with a relieving arch is located at the gallery level in the gable, along with a cill course. At the gable head, there is a three-light louvred aperture topped with a fleur-de-lys finial and a small lantern bellcote at the apex. The roof gable is to the right, while a slightly set-back squat tower with a three-light window, a date stone reading '1881', an eaves course, and a finialed spirelet is situated to the left.

The north and south elevations each have five bays, featuring three three-light windows with buttresses at the central bays, as well as three small ridge vents.

Inside, there is a small narthex with plain walls, timber pews, a communion table, and a pulpit centered in the apse. The interior also includes a moulded cornice and a coomb ceiling, with windows displaying a square and diamond glazing pattern.

The church is enclosed by a stone wall on the west side, which is complemented by wrought-iron railings, gates, and a simple arch.
