E.U. Congregational Church, Brandon Street, Motherwell

The E.U. Congregational Church on Brandon Street in Motherwell is a plain Gothic church built in the later 19th century. It has a rectangular plan and features a gabled roof made of squared yellow sandstone, with ashlar quoins and an eaves course. The church includes lancet openings, stopped hoodmoulds, and roll moulded reveals.

On the southwest elevation, there is a central 2-leaf boarded door flanked by windows, and a large cusped bipartite plate traceried window at the gablehead. The northeast elevation features a late 19th-century, 2-storey, 4-bay rectangular-plan church hall that abuts the rear of the main church. The southeast elevation has a 5-bay design with regular fenestration and bull-faced sandstone coursers. The northwest elevation mirrors the southeast.

The interior was not seen in 2001, but it is noted to have square-pane leaded glass. The roof is covered with grey slates and lead flashing.

The boundary wall and gate piers consist of a dwarf coped wall made of squared sandstone coursers. The gate piers are square-plan columns with a base course and a gablet cap topped with a crocketted small pyramidal finial.
