Description

Late 19th century. 2-stage; domed canopy over raised basin, symmetrical drinking fountain with model stork centrepiece. Painted cast-iron. Square-plan canopy; columns to corners, stiffleaf capitals; semicircular arches to 2nd stage, Lombard frieze to reveal, pierced scrollwork to spandrels, rope moulded central shield motifs, narrow cornice consoled at corners; pierced scrollwork dome, griffins to corners, elaborate crown finial. Splayed basin on composite column pedestal, 2-stage foliate centrepiece terminating in model stork. Height approximately 1.5 metres.
