Baldovie Toll House, Kellas Road, Dundee

Baldovie Toll House is a two-storey, three-bay former toll house, likely dating to circa 1789. It was probably constructed in response to 'An Act for Repairing the Roads in the County of Forfar' from that year. The building is constructed of harled rubble with painted angles and margins, topped by a grey slate roof. It features 12-pane sash and case windows; some at the east elevation have been replaced with modern leaded glass. Ashlar skews have rounded ends, and brick gable stacks are topped with “thankstanes.”

The west elevation has three bays grouped towards the centre, with an unfortunate, recently harled and glazed porch featuring a piended roof and a two-leaf door with a fanlight. Windows are positioned to the left and right of the porch, with three smaller windows under the eaves at the first floor. The south gable has a narrow window at first floor left, and a later window at right. A four-pane window is visible at ground floor right of the north gable. There are two windows on the ground floor, set off-centre, on the east elevation.
