Constitution House, 55 Constitution Road, Dundee

Constitution House is an early 20th-century, two-storey institutional building with an attic and basement, situated on a corner site that has been influenced by the development of the Inner Ring Road. The front of the building features stugged and snecked rubble sandstone with a bull-faced basecourse and ashlar dressings, topped by a grey slate Mansard roof. The rear section is harled and has a slate pitched roof.

The front elevation includes a central two-leaf door with a fanlight, framed by a moulded and corniced doorpiece with a block pediment. There are small tripartite basement windows with decorative security grilles at the base course on either side, and tripartite windows at the ground floor. The first floor has bipartite windows flanked by tripartites, and a large box dormer with a splayed angle to the left.

On the left return elevation, there are windows on both the ground and first floors, along with six dormers. The elevation facing the Inner Ring Road features a three-bay end elevation of the front building on the left, with three bipartite basement windows and a small bipartite window at the ground floor center bay. Above this are two bipartite stair windows, with the uppermost window breaking through the wallhead. There are bipartite windows on the left and right at both the ground and first floors, while the four-bay rear section to the right has bipartite windows on both levels.
