Gentlemen's Lavatories, Seabraes, Dundee

The Gentlemen's Lavatories at Seabraes in Dundee, designed by William Mackeson around 1900, is a basement public convenience that retains its original fittings. The south elevation features a single storey made of snecked rubble, with three-light window bays in the style of G. Mathewson from 1839. It includes a steel lintel and metal framed glazing, along with ornate wrought-iron railings supported by chamfered ashlar piers. The flat concrete roof, which is level with Perth Road, has glass brick skylights, and similar railings are found on the stairs.

Inside, the lavatories are decorated with green tiles up to the dado and white tiles above, although the tiles at the stair are modern. The floor is made of patent mosaic with a Greek key design. Original timber architraves and a dentil cornice are present in the caretaker's area, which includes a wash-stand and water closets. The facility contains seven 'Sentinal' water closets and twelve large 'Adamant' urinals made by Wyfords Ltd from Cliffe Vale Potteries in Hanley, along with brass fittings.
