Description
The Old Manse, located at Dunreggan, Moniaive, is an asymmetrical, two-story former manse built in 1843. The exterior is of painted rubble with painted margins, and features lying-pane sash windows.
The north elevation (the main entrance) has an advanced gable on the right side with two ground floor windows. A piended, shallow porch is set into the re-entrant angle, and the front door has narrow lights on either side. Two gables face east, with the left-hand one recessed and the other blind. The south elevation has an advanced left gable with tripartite windows, a ground floor bipartite window to the right, and a narrow upper light in the re-entrant angle.
The roof has straight skews and some gables are finialed. Wall-head and apex stacks are present, with paired, octagonal, corniced flues, all under a slate roof.
Adjacent to the manse are former stables constructed of painted rubble. These have two depressed-arched cart openings at the west end of the north wall. An octagonal flue rises from the east gable, and the roof is slate.
According to the Annals of the Free Church, 1914, volume II, page 47, the manse served as a Free Church manse.
