Description
The site comprises a quadrangular churchyard containing the ruins of the former Garvald church and a number of 17th- to 19th-century stone monuments. The church, reputedly rebuilt in 1617, was of rectangular plan. The remaining walls stand only a few courses high and are constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings. The churchyard is enclosed by rubble-built walls with ashlar coping, and there is a gate at the east side. The church and some monuments are detailed in the Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) inventory of 1920, reference numbers 355 and 355. Garvald Parish was suppressed in 1660.
