Description
This is an earlier or mid-19th century gate lodge with associated gatepiers, quadrants, and railings. The lodge has a single storey and a broad, overhanging roof. The two-bay east-facing elevation fronts the driveway; the left bay has a gable and a canted window. A timber-columned porch projects diagonally from the re-entrant angle. Single gables are also present on the north and south elevations. The lodge is constructed of neatly-coursed whinstone with contrasting ashlar dressings, margins, and concrete pointing, all painted. It features a corniced stack and a slate roof. The gatepiers and quadrants are ashlar-built and plain, with decorative cast-iron railings.
