Description

Evan Bridge is an earlier or mid-19th century roadbridge built as a single segmental arch over the Evan Water. A smaller, dry arch is located on the west bank. The main arch is constructed with rusticated voussoirs, and ornamental cusped cross loops flank it to the south. The bridge is primarily built of red ashlar, with the remainder using rubble; concrete repairs are visible to the north abutment. The parapets have been slightly widened at the bridge approaches. The statutory address is Evan Bridge near Auchen Castle.
