Description
These are an early 19th century group of cottages, restored in the later 20th century. Originally six separate cottages, they are now known as 1 Weighbridge Cottages. Four cottages face south, while two are set at an angle, facing southwest. The cottage to the left of what was formerly a larger range is at an angle and has a blocked door. The cottages are constructed of painted rubble with painted margins, featuring four-pane sash windows and boarded doors. The roofs are slated with red ashlar apex chimney stacks and projecting caps, and the rooflines have straight skews. Cobbled pavements are present. The buildings are designated as a group value with Rowan House, Rowan Cottage, and Greystone Cottage. The statutory address is 1-5 Weighbridge Cottages, Kirkton Village.
