Description

43 and 45 Bank Street in Dumfries is a symmetrical three-storey, three-bay tenement building, likely designed by Walter Newall around 1830. It features Tudor details and is constructed from polished red ashlar with hoodmoulds. The ground floor includes shops and a central close door, while the inner bay has half-blind bipartite windows. The wall-head gable is flanked by tall octagonal flues. The first floor has modern glazing, but the second floor retains sash windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The building also has shaped skews, end stacks, and a slate roof.
