Description
South East Lodge at Kinmount House dates from around 1900 and is a single-storey lodge featuring elaborate wrought-iron gates, piers, and railings. The lodge has a T-plan layout with piended swept roofs and is constructed from snecked bull-faced red ashlar with polished dressings. The south elevation includes two advanced bays on the left, which have cavetto eaves moulding, a door, and the remainder of the walling set behind a timber verandah with the main roof sweeping over it. There are corniced end stacks, with the eastern stack rising from a two-bay wall-head gable and the western stack set transversely with a projecting breast. A continuous string course runs at cill level, and the windows have been boarded up since 1986. The roof is covered with red tiles, and there is a modern addition to the north. The gates and gate piers are notable for their elaborate wrought-iron design, featuring finialed hollow square piers and railings adorned with intricate curved ornamentation.
