Town Hall, High Street, Moffat

The Town Hall in Moffat was built in 1827 originally as Bath Rooms and has undergone later alterations. It features a single-storey, 7-bay irregular classical front, with the outer and central bays projecting forward. The building is constructed from graded whinstone coursers with painted ashlar dressings. The entrance is located at the north side, beneath a portico supported by fluted Doric columns and topped with a pediment. The southern bay is pilastered and infilled, while the central bay is also pilastered, featuring narrow windows and a steeply gabled pediment with the date displayed above. The remaining four front bays contain 24-pane windows. To the south, there is a two-storey, two-bay flank with a separate pilastered entrance. The rear of the building has single-storey rubble-built additions, and the roofs are slated.
