Description
The Bank of Scotland, located at 63 High Street in Sanquhar, is an earlier 19th-century classical bank that is set back from the street. It features two storeys and five bays, constructed of droved ashlar with painted dressings. The central entrance has a modern door with a fanlight, which is sheltered by an Ionic portico. The building includes plate-glass sash windows with projecting cills, a cornice, a blocking course, and end stacks. The roof is double-pitched and has a low piended slate covering. At the rear, there is a plain addition. The property is enclosed by spear-headed iron railings on low coping, with gates set in recessed low flanking screens.
