Description
A pair of late 18th-century Classical lodges stand at the south gateway of Dalswinton House, flanked by two tall gate piers. The lodges are built of red ashlar and are single-storeyed. Each lodge has a three-bay elevation facing the drive, with a door closest to the main road. A single-bay, pedimented projection faces the main road, featuring a single window within a round-headed opening, and a cill band that also serves as the coping for the quadrant walls. All windows are 12-pane sashes. The lodges have a cornice, blocking course, a central apex stack, and piended slate roofs. A lower, late 19th-century addition is located at the rear of each lodge. The two circular gate piers are also built of red ashlar, with a fluted frieze decorated with rosettes, a cornice, and a large urn finial on a stepped base. Modern wrought-iron gates and railings are present. Quadrant walls run along the flank elevations of the lodges.
