Description

This is a house dating to 1908, built in a simple, traditional style with influences from the Arts and Crafts movement. It is a two-story, asymmetrical design, with a harled exterior.

The west-facing principal elevation features a recessed central section. To the left is a conservatory with a low harled wall and segmental-arched glazed panels that enclose a window to the left and a doorway to the house on the right. To the right of the recessed section are two ground-floor windows, followed by three first-floor windows. An inscription above the conservatory reads "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord." An advanced gable is located to the outer right, with canted angles at ground floor which are corbelled to form a square at first floor. This gable has a window on the west side and to the canted angles at ground floor; the first floor includes two windows on the west side and a window on the north return. A piended bay is advanced to the left of the recessed section and has windows to both floors. A circular corner tower extends to the outer left, topped with a conical roof. This tower is corbelled out on the first floor, and features windows facing west and north on both floors.

The north elevation is gabled, with a central window on each floor, and adjoins the aforementioned circular tower.

The east-facing, or entrance, elevation forms an L-shape, created by a broad jerkin-headed jamb jutting forward on the left. A porch in antis is located to the left of the jamb, set behind a glazed panel on a low harled wall, and contains a central two-leaf semi-glazed door. Above the porch are three windows on the first floor. A square stair tower sits at the centre, with rounded angles and a piended roof. This tower has a window to the left of centre on the ground floor, and one to the right of centre on the first floor. Another window is located to the right at first floor on the north return. On the right side of this elevation, a ground-floor window and a first-floor window are present, and another is located on the north return.

The north return of the jamb includes a door to the left, with windows centrally and to the right on the ground floor, and gabled dormerheads above the first-floor windows.

The jerkin-headed elevation to the left has three windows to the centre and right on the ground floor, four windows on the first floor, and a single-story piended wing extending to the left, continuing from the south elevation with four windows.

The south-facing elevation is gabled to the left, with a window to the left and two windows to the right on the ground floor, and a window to the left and right on the first floor. Two small windows are set in the gablehead. To the right is a section with a window to the left and right on both floors, and a centrally located ground-floor window. A single-story piended wing adjoins the right side of this section.

Most windows are 12-pane sash and case, though some on the east side have 6 panes, and some are fixed. Coped harled stacks are present at the north gablehead, the ridge at the centre of the west elevation, midway down the pitches of the south jamb, and at the southeast angle of the single-story wing. The roof is covered in slightly graded grey slates, topped with terracotta cans. A snow-guard is located at the eaves above the conservatory.
