Description
Ardlarich is a 2-storey, 3-bay, T-plan Arts and Crafts house built in 1937. It features cream-painted harl with ashlar margins and dressings, along with a base course, string course, and battered cills.
On the southwest elevation, which faces the garden, there are five symmetrical bays arranged in a 1-3-1 pattern. The outer bays have 4-light, multi-paned casement windows, but these are now obscured by a modern, flat-roofed aluminium conservatory. The first floor has symmetrically arranged windows, with tripartite casements in the outer bays and bipartite windows in the center. Swept dormers are symmetrically placed at the center, and there is a stack to the right.
The northwest elevation serves as the entrance and has a 3-bay main block connected to a garage by a single-storey link-block. The entrance is located at the re-entrant angle under a pitched porch supported by a timber post, featuring a thatched roof and a tripartite swept dormer, with a small stack to the left. There is a multi-paned door and a window to the left, with symmetrically arranged windows in the outer left bay and a window at the ground level of the left return. The link-block has a half-glazed door flanked by windows, leading to an enclosed forecourt. The garage block to the outer left has a 2-leaf boarded door and a tripartite window on the left return. To the right of the porch is a wing with an advanced chimney at the center, which has a datestone from 1837 and a thatched base at the stack; there is a narrow window flanking it at the first floor. The right return features a 4-light window at ground level and a tripartite window at the first floor.
The southeast elevation consists of 3 bays, with the block to the outer left advanced, featuring a quadripartite window at ground level and a tripartite window at the first floor. A recessed 2-bay wing to the right has a bipartite window on the left and a quadripartite window on the outer right at ground level. The outer left has a tripartite window (arranged 1-2-1), with a bipartite window on the outer right at the first floor. There is a tall stack to the outer right, and the garage block to the outer right has a flat-roofed extension. The windows are multi-paned metal casements, and the roof is thatched with harled and coped ridge and wallhead stacks featuring moulded, brick pierced cans.
Inside, the principal rooms have timber beamed ceilings and flush panelled doors. The property also features a lych-gate type gateway with a thatched canopy on timber posts and 2-leaf curved wooden gates.
