5 Main Street, Isle Of Whithorn

5 Main Street in Isle of Whithorn is a house dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is a two-storey building with a layout of two by three bays, situated on an irregular corner site that creates an obtuse angle. The exterior is finished in painted rubble with ashlar dressings and features small windows.

The northeast elevation, facing Main Street, has three bays. There is a door in the center with a former window above that is now blocked, and there are windows in the flanking bays. The east elevation, which faces Tonderghie Road, has two bays. It features a door in the right bay and a window on both floors of the left bay.

The windows are timber sash and case, with four panes each. The doors are modern and panelled. The house has large painted gablehead stacks with stone coping, one of which is shared with the neighboring property on Tonderghie Road. The stone and cement skew coping and ridge flashings are also present, and the roof is covered with grey slates. The rear and interior of the building were not seen during the inspection in 1997.
