Description
Heathall Farm Railway Bridge is a cast-iron bridge that was built to carry a farm access track over the former Dumfries-Lockerbie branch railway, which opened on September 1, 1863, and was engineered by Hugh H Maclure. The bridge features a single segmental arch, with individual members extending from the springings to the crown of the arch. The abutments and the terminal piers of the parapet are made of red ashlar stone, with the former being bull-faced and the latter channelled. Additionally, the bridge has a decorative ramped parapet balustrade, also made of cast-iron.
