Nunfield T.A. Centre, Edinburgh Road, Dumfries

Nunfield T.A. Centre is a later 19th century asymmetrical two-storey mansion featuring French Second Empire architectural elements. The building incorporates an early 19th century house at its western corner. It is constructed of red ashlar stone with rusticated quoins and has band courses at both the ground and first floors, along with a cornice and blocking course topped with corniced stacks.

The southwest elevation showcases a three-window entrance pavilion with a segmentally pedimented projecting porch that is supported by swagged Ionic pilasters. Sculptured details flank the ground floor windows, and there is a shaped gablet with a roundel above, topped by a prominent French pavilion roof. To the left, there is a two-bay pedimented gable end of the original house, which connects to a recessed link that leads to a two-storey canted bay on the right, where pediments containing roundels rise above the main cornice. The front features two bipartite windows above a four-light canted bay, with two blind single-lights above bipartites on the flank.

A wide semi-circular arched gateway, which has a tall keyblock projecting through the pediment above, provides access to a service yard at the rear (east). The northwest frontage consists of six irregular bays and includes a single-storey rectangular bay that was formerly connected to a glazed porch. Heavy bracketed hoods can be seen above the ground floor windows.
