Description

The Doocot at Cumstoun House is a stone-built dovecot from the mid-19th century, featuring a single-storey range of byres. Constructed from rubble with granite quoins and margins, the dovecot is rectangular and two-storey, while the byre is a long single-storey structure. It appears that the dovecot was raised from a single storey. The byre has ornamental casement windows with diamond-pane glazing. Notable architectural features include deeply overhanging timber eaves, slate piended roofs, and a pitched roof on the byre with a sandstone ridge.
