Description
Low Bridge of Tarff is a single-arch stone bridge built in the later 18th century. It spans Tarff Water near its junction with the River Dee, marking the boundary between the parishes of Twynholm and Tongland. The bridge features a segmental arch with an approximate span of 45 feet, and the carriageway is about 12 feet wide over the arch, widening at the abutments. The extensive abutments serve as buttresses and provide pedestrian refuges. The structure includes square granite voussoirs, a rubble soffit, and rubble spandrels and abutments, with parapets that have sandstone coping.
