Description

The Kirkcudbright Bridge, built in 1926, is a reinforced concrete and steel bowstring truss bridge spanning five sections. The design is by Blyth and Blyth and L G Mouchel, engineers, and built by John Angus and Sons. The bridge features octagonal piers that support a flat deck. A pierced concrete balustraded parapet runs along the bridge, with intermediate piers holding cast-iron lamp brackets. A bronze plaque at the centre of the bridge commemorates the engineers, contractors, and the bridge’s completion date. The statutory address is Kirkcudbright Bridge.
