Description
The Mill Office at Morton Mill in Carronbridge dates from the earlier to mid-19th century. It is a 12-bay cartshed with a loft above, and an office, possibly an overseer's house, located at the east end. The building has a rectangular plan and features a long continuous gabled roof. The exterior is constructed of stugged, snecked, and squared red rubble with ashlar dressings.
On the north elevation, the cartshed has 12 segmentally-arched openings, of which 2 are partly blocked and 2 have doors. The loft is illuminated by a single window. The two-storey, two-bay office has a door on the left side, sash windows with 12-pane glazing, and end stacks. There is a loft door above a forestair on the west gable.
The south elevation features 5 windows, with closely spaced ones at ground level on the east and more widely spaced ones above. The building has straight skews, axial vents, and is roofed with uniform slates.
