Coach House, St Michael's Manse, Bankend Road, Dumfries

The Coach House at St Michael's Manse on Bankend Road in Dumfries dates from the late 19th century and serves as a coach house and stables. It features a near-symmetrical design with a tall central square pavilion that includes a three-bay stable at the ground level and a hay loft above, accessed by a pedimented doorway. The roof is truncated pyramidal, possibly originally designed with a ventilator. On either side, there are low single-storey wings, with the left side housing the coach house, which is now used as a garage, and a wallhead stack recessed on the right. The structure is built from stugged and snecked red ashlar with polished dressings, and it has segmental-arched openings, some of which include keystones. The roofs are covered with slate.
