St Michael's Manse, Bankend Road, Dumfries

St Michael's Manse, located on Bankend Road in Dumfries, is a two-storey, three-bay manse designed by architect J Halliday and dated 1896. The building features Renaissance ornamentation and is constructed from red ashlar stone with rusticated angles, while the first floor is quoined. A balustraded square-columned Ionic porch with a round-arched doorway is set in a shallow advanced pilastered and pedimented inner bay. The ground floor has canted windows with channelled angles and architraved lights, while the first floor features bipartite windows. Additional architectural details include a string course between the floors, an eaves course, a bracketted cornice, end stacks, and a piended slate roof. The manse has two-bay flanks and a rear wing.
