Description
The Bonnington Hotel, located on High Street in Moffat, dates from around 1860. It is a three-storey building with a three-bay front, constructed from painted coursed whinstone featuring contrasting dressings. The façade includes two pilastered shopfronts, with the one on the right having been altered, and a central entrance leading to the hotel. Above the shopfronts, there is a continuous cornice.
On the first floor, there is a cill band that supports three pilastered tripartite windows, which have incised decoration on their block pediments. The second floor features three pairs of windows. The building is topped with an eaves band and cornice, and it has a piended slate roof with polygonal chimney stacks. The flank walls are made of rubble and include some blind windows.
