Description

Kirtlebridge Viaduct is a railway viaduct built by the Caledonian Railway on a line that opened on February 15, 1848. It features nine segmental arches that support double track over the B722 road and the Kirtle Water. The structure is made of bull-faced red ashlar coursers and graded voussoirs, with bands at the impost level and below the parapet, where the masonry course is slightly advanced. The viaduct has ashlar coping topped with plain iron railings and plain outer pilasters. There are some metal ties inserted and some brick repairs to the abutments.
