Description
1 St Mary's Place in Kirkcudbright is an early 19th-century detached house, which may have originally been a pair of houses. It stands two storeys high with an attic and features four bays. The exterior is finished in pebbledash with painted margins. The entrance door is off-centre, with two windows to the left and one to the right on the ground floor, and four 12-pane sash windows on the first floor. The house has an eaves course, two piended dormers, and one wide central dormer with two lights, all of which were added in the later 19th century. The gable has irregular fenestration and includes one small attic light. The building has straight skews with simple moulded skewputts, end stacks, and a slate roof. There is a modern extension at the rear. A revision in 1991 involved rendering the elevation and removing the dormers.
