Description
95 and 95A George Street in Edinburgh is a classical office building designed by David Bryce in 1840. It is three stories high with an attic and features three bays, constructed from polished cream sandstone ashlar. The ground floor has a central projecting tripartite pilastered bay that supports a full-width balcony on the first floor, which has a solid parapet and is flanked by consoles. The flanking bays contain two-leaf panelled doors with fanlights above. The first floor windows are full-height, with architraves and cornices, while the second floor windows also have architraves. A dentilled and mutuled cornice runs along the top, with a panelled solid parapet that conceals the attic windows.
The building has timber sash and case windows, with plate glass on the ground floor, 15-pane windows on the first floor, and 12-pane windows on the second floor. The roof is covered with grey slates. The interior was not seen in 1995.
