Description

Wells O' Wearie Cottage is a single storey L-plan former shepherd's cottage built around 1857, located in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh. The building is constructed from squared and snecked rubble. The entrance is on the west side, featuring a slightly advanced pedimented porch in the re-entrant angle, which includes a 4-panel timber entrance door with a fanlight above. There is an advanced gable to the right and a later lean-to addition to the south.

The cottage primarily has 12-pane timber sash and case windows and is roofed with graded grey slates. It features a coped wallhead and gable stacks, along with raised skews and skewputts.

Inside, the cottage has been comprehensively modernised, but some original features remain, including a few 4-panel timber doors and working timber shutters, as observed in 2007.
