Description

This late 18th century tenement at 150 Constitution Street in Leith, Edinburgh, features four bays and three stories. The building has a gable elevation facing Constitution Street and a rounded corner above a chamfered ground floor. It is constructed from cream sandstone with coursed rubble and droved dressings. The design includes a base course, a continuous cornice above the public house at the corner site, and second-floor windows that break the eaves with shallow catslide dormerheads.

On the southwest elevation facing Laurie Street, there are two windows and a common stair doorway at the ground floor, with single windows on the first and second floors; the outer left window on the first floor has been enlarged. A shouldered brick wallhead stack is present.

The northwest elevation facing Constitution Street has three bays and is gabled with an apex stack. It features two openings at the ground floor, including a doorway to the public house in the chamfered corner on the outer right, which has stop-chamfered reveals. There are single windows on the first floor (the center window is blocked) and one window at the second floor and gablehead, both of which are also blocked.

The northeast rear elevation is five bays wide and has a single-storey neighbouring building abutting it. It contains single windows on both the first and second floors, along with the remains of a wallhead stack.

The southeast elevation is gabled with an apex stack and has a single window in the center bay, which is blocked. It also features a tall rubble wall with a broad opening, flat coping, and a carved ogee finial at the center, positioned at a right angle to Laurie Street.

The building has timber sash and case windows, mostly with plate glass, and four-pane windows at the rear. The roof is slate, with two wallhead stacks and two apex stacks. The interior was not seen in 1993.
