143, 145, 147 Constitution Street, Edinburgh

141 Constitution Street in Edinburgh is possibly an early 19th-century building featuring three to four storeys and a basement. The front is made of cream sandstone with a droved ashlar finish, while the rear and sides are constructed from coursed rubble. The basement is also rubble, with a banded base course and a dentilled eaves cornice. The doorways, which are plain pilastered and corniced, have panelled doors and rectangular plate glass fanlights, with Nos 141 and 143 featuring border glazing. Nos 141-145 have been stone cleaned and partly refronted.

The northwest (front) elevation displays regular fenestration. No 141 has a four-bay design with a doorway to the right of the centre and blinded windows above. Nos 143 and 145 are also four-bay, with a doorway in the bay to the left of centre and a later door added in the outer left bay. Decorative cast-iron window guards are present on the left bays at the third floor. No 147 has a three-bay design with a central doorway and blinded windows above. Each tenement includes two rectangular tripartite dormers with piended roofs.

The southeast (rear) elevation features nepus gables. The windows are primarily timber sash and case, mostly with 12 panes, although some have plate glass glazing, and there are replacement windows on the first floor of No 147. The slate roof has lead flashings and tall coped mutual stacks that have been rebuilt. The interior was not seen in 1993.
