Description

James Bow Dunn, 1887. 5-storey 7-bay warehouse with single storey outbuilding (former drying, cutting and smoking houses and covered court) to rear. Cream sandstone, coursed and squared stugged rubble with droved ashlar dressings, squared and snecked rubble to rear. Raised margins to front elevation.

NW (FRONT) ELEVATION: regular fenestration; large segmental-arched corniced ashlar doorway in bay to left of centre, roll-moulded arch with carved keystone, deeply chamfered moulded reveals, tripartite timber door with round-arched bays, 2-leaf panelled door, panelled aprons and plate glass fanlight; window at 1st floor above with shouldered architrave, scroll-flanked and pedimented; wallhead above raised in gable with angled skew blocks and apex stack.

SE (REAR) ELEVATION: 5-bay; regular windows; bay to right of centre breaking eaves in small gable and hoist doors (now bricked-up). Single storey outbuildings to rear forming link with tenement Nos 12 and

13 Wellington Place,

Plate glass sash and case windows to ground floor of front elevation, otherwise 4-pane fixed timber windows. Grey slate roof with lead flashings; 1 apex stack (see above). Moulded eaves gutter with cast-iron brackets.

INTERIOR: not seen 1993.
