Walled Garden, Baberton House

The Walled Garden at Baberton House dates from the later 18th century and features a near rectangular plan with an additional second compartment to the south. The walls are constructed of random rubble with flat coping, and there is a brick wall separating the two compartments. The southern chamber has roughly squared and snecked rubble walls, also topped with flat coping and accented by long and short quoins. An ashlar doorway is located on the eastern side of the northern wall, topped with a pediment on the exterior and a timber lintel on the interior, along with an ironwork gate. There is a damaged timber gate from the early 20th century at the center of the wall between the compartments. The eastern walls rise up to a central gateway featuring ironwork gates. Additionally, there is an infilled doorway to the right of the southern wall.
