Description

Lufra Cottage, built around 1845, is a symmetrical single-storey, double-fronted cottage with a lean-to on the east side. The exterior is made of brick painted white, featuring stone dressings and stone sills.

On the south elevation, there is a central entrance that includes a glazed wooden porch, a four-panel timber door, and a four-pane rectangular fanlight. Flanking the entrance are windows, while a brick wall at a right angle to the left obscures a recessed lean-to bay within an enclosed yard. This area has an entrance with a boarded timber door and a window to the left. To the right, there is a curved rubble wall.

The north elevation features a small central window with larger flanking windows, as well as a window in the lean-to bay to the right.

The cottage mainly has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, with lying-pane glazing on the south elevation. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended style, with tall rendered coped wallhead stacks at each corner.

Inside, the original layout and panelled doors are largely intact. The front room to the right of the entrance contains two built-in cupboards with glazed bookshelves above.
