Cameron Nursery School, 9 Cameron House Avenue, Edinburgh

Cameron Nursery School, built around 1930, is a single-storey nursery school and office building with a T-plan layout and grey harled walls.

The south elevation features full-length glazing with small-paned folding doors, topped by a frieze of small windows that includes 22 panes of stained glass. Above this, there is a full-length, projecting, steel-framed, glazed canopy.

On the east and west elevations, there are two large bipartite windows serving the school hall, along with a variety of single and bipartite windows for the offices to the north. The building has 12-pane and 6-pane timber sash and case windows, and a grey slate piended roof with original vents that have conical caps.

Notably, the school contains 22 exceptional secular stained glass panels created by William Wilson, depicting children at play, which were designed specifically for the school in 1937.
