Description

City Engineer's Department, 1900. Quadrangular-plan 4-storey deck-access housing built on falling ground (to N). Cream harled with red painted dressings; squared and snecked bull-faced sandstone with polished dressings to SW block. Concrete balconies with cast-iron railings supported on cast-iron columns. Shoulder-arched open entrances to stairs at corners. Timber boarded doors to flats flanked by bipartite windows. Pedimented and shaped gables breaking eaves at 4th floor. Corbelled corner turret with finialled, slated conical roof to SW.

6-pane glazing to upper sashes, 4-pane to lower in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Harled stacks with red painted cornices and circular cans.
