28 North Fort Street, Edinburgh

28 North Fort Street in Edinburgh is a pair of mirrored, two-storey houses with a basement and attic, built around 1840. These three-bay houses are part of a continuous terrace and feature stugged ashlar with ashlar dressings. The design includes a base course, a cill course at the first floor, a cornice, and a blocking course. The windows are regularly spaced, with moulded architraves at the ground level. The inner bays have panelled doors topped with rectangular fanlights, architraves, and a cornice, while the centre bays are blind on the first floor.

The rear elevations are constructed from two-bay rubble. The houses have timber sash and case plate glass windows, with two tilt and swing replacements. The roofs are covered with grey slates and feature rendered stacks and ashlar coped mutual skews. A low coursed stone front wall with ashlar saddleback coping completes the property.
