75, 77, 79 Cumberland Street, Edinburgh

75, 77, and 79 Cumberland Street is a mid-19th century, three-storey and basement, three-bay terraced tenement. It features broached ashlar sandstone and a painted polished sandstone shop front on the principal floor. The building has a base course, a continuous cornice at the principal floor, projecting cills for the first-floor windows, a cill course at the second floor, and a cornice with a blocking course at the third floor. The windows on the first and second floors have raised margins.

On the north (principal) elevation, there is a panelled timber common stair door centered on the principal floor, with a small-pane light to the left. This is flanked by a pair of two-leaf timber doors leading to the shop (No 75, The Open Eye Gallery), which is further flanked by recessed window pieces with plate glass windows. The upper floors have regular fenestration, including a small two-pane window to the right of center on the second floor.

The east elevation is constructed of squared and snecked rubble and is predominantly blank, with a window to the left of center on the principal floor.

The west elevation adjoins another terrace, which has a separate listing (10-14 St Vincent Street).

The building predominantly features four-pane timber sash and case windows. It has a grey slate Mansard roof, with slate-hung lead-roofed dormers and a random rubble gablehead stack that has broached ashlar quoins, is coped, and features circular cans.
