Description
34 Grange Loan is a villa built around 1860, featuring two stories and two bays. It is adjoined by a later tenement block that overshadows it. The exterior is made of squared and snecked sandstone with coursed ashlar on the south elevation. There is a base course and raised surrounds for the doors and windows.
On the south entrance elevation, there is a consoled cornice above the doorway, which features a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight. Above the doorway, there is a single window on the first floor, with single windows in the remaining bay. The villa has 12-pane sash and case windows, which are wider at the ground floor. The roof is a grey slate piended roof with a corniced stack that adjoins the neighbouring tenement.
The interior was not seen in 1990. There is a low saddleback wall facing the street and a short run of fleur-de-lys headed cast-iron railings to the left of the gateway.
